Quotes of the Times

“Seth Rich was assassinated Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, Fox News, May 21, 2017 (see his full statement below).

“I knew Seth Rich. I know he was the @Wikileaks source. I was involved.”  Kim Dotcom, Tweet, May 21, 2017.

“Complete panic has set in at the highest levels of the Democratic Party.” Sean Hannity, Radio and TV host, Tweet, May 22, 2017.

“President Trump has been facing an information war declared against him by the so-called mainstream media.”  Alexey Pushkov, Chairman of Russia’s Federation Council Interim Commission on Information Policy.

“Their goal is either to impeach Trump or limit his freedom of manoeuvre, bind him hand and foot.” Ibid.

“This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history.”  Donald Trump.

“I supported Trump because he, unlike Hillary, said he would normalize relations with Russia. Instead, he has raised the tensions between the nuclear powers. Nothing is more irresponsible or dangerous.”  Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, Reagan Administration.

“The presence of US missile defence bases in Europe, missile defence vessels in seas and oceans close to Russia creates a powerful covert strike component for conducting a sudden nuclear missile strike against the Russian Federation.” Lt. Gen. Viktor Poznikhir, deputy head of operations of the Russian General Staff, Russian Television (RT), April 26, 2017.

“US missile shield aims to cover sudden nuclear strike against Russia.”  Headline, Russian Television (RT), April 26, 2017.  https://www.rt.com/news/386276-us-missile-shield-russia-strike/

“Fifty years ago, the streets of Leningrad taught me one thing: If a fight is inevitable, you must strike first.” Vladimir Putin.

Political commentators are running out of adjectives, in order to describe the machinations currently going on, in the highest echelons of political life in America.  At the moment the most popular adjective is ‘unprecedented’ and they are desperately looking for the adjective that comes after unprecedented.  Whatever that word is, it will have to be invented, because by definition, nothing comes after unprecedented.

The problem is, the Russians are everywhere. They are doing everything, to everyone, and doing it all the time.  If you get up late, the Russians did it – they hacked your alarm clock. If you burnt the toast, the Russians did it – they hacked your toaster.  If you missed the bus, the Russians did it, etc. etc.

Well, we have just found out that it was not the Russians after all.  It was not the Russians that hacked into the Democratic Party’s emails and gave them to Wikileaks.  It was not the Russians that corrupted the American elections and handed the presidency to Donald Trump.  Therefore, Donald Trump is not a Russian agent in Putin’s pocket.  Sorry about that Hillary.

So, if it wasn’t the Russians who was it?  First of all it was not a hack – it was a leak.  The emails were leaked by a disgruntled Democratic Party employee called Seth Rich.  Seth was a good guy. He saw the corruption and he wanted to expose it.  An examination of his laptop has revealed that he had contacts with Wikileaks.  Kim Dotcom has tweeted that he helped get the leaked emails to Wikileaks.  John Podesta, the Democratic Party Chairman, in an email wrote that he was: “definitely for making an example of a suspected leaker whether or not we have a real basis for it and that there are stiff consequences for leaking.”  Was Seth Rich made an example of by being murdered on a Washington D.C. street? Not according to the prominent Washington Politico Newt Gingrich – he is calling the murder of Seth Rich an assassination.  This is brewing up into a scandal that, just might help Donald ‘drain the swamp.’

But wait there is more!  All this Russia bashing has had serious consequences.  The Russians are now convinced that America is planning a nuclear first strike on their country.  America has placed batteries of anti-ballistic missiles in Eastern Europe, supposedly to combat missiles from Iran.  The Russians recognise this for the charade it is.  They know full well that the missiles are aimed at them.  The Russians also see the recent tensions with North Korea as an excuse to put anti-ballistic missiles in South Korea.  Once again, not because of North Korea’s puny ability to threaten America or American interests, but in reality to threaten Russia (and China).

So what do you do, if you know there is going to be a fight?  What did Putin say he learned on the mean streets of Leningrad?  “If you know there is going to be a fight – strike first.”  So maybe the Russians will actually do it after all. But it won’t be a hack, it will be an attack!

Welcome to a time when world-wide tension has never been higher.  We have come back to a time that the world had hoped we would never see again – ‘the Cuban missile crises.’  When America and the USSR stood toe to toe waiting for the other to blink.  Back then, the world had an American president who put America first – and the crises was averted.  Does America have such a president today?  We are about to find out.

God bless,

Bruce Telfer.

Extra note:

There are only three countries in the world that have officially declared a ‘No First Use’ (NFU) policy, regarding nuclear weapons.  In other words, their official position is that they have ruled out a ‘first strike’ option – they will never use nuclear weapons first.  Which nations do you think they are?  If you naturally conclude that these three nations must be western nations (the nations that trumpet democracy, freedom and human rights), you would be wrong.  The three nations are; India, China and North Korea.

Gingrich interview

“We have this very strange story now of this young man who worked at the Democratic National Committee, who apparently was assassinated, at four in the morning, uh having given Wikileaks something like 23,000, um I’m sorry 53,000 emails and 17,000 attachments. Nobody is investigating that. And what does that tell you about what was going on? Because it turns out it wasn’t the Russians. It was this young guy who I suspect was disgusted by the corruption of the Democratic National Committee. He’s been killed and apparently nothing serious has been done to investigate his murder. So, I’d like to see how Mueller is going to define what his assignment is. And if it’s only narrowly Trump, the country will not learn what it needs to learn about foreign involvement in American politics.”  Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the house, Fox News (Fox and Friends), May 21, 2017.
