Quotes of the Times:
“Problematic.” Angela Merkel, German Chancellor, commenting on Donald Trump’s permanent banning by Twitter. https://nypost.com/2021/01/11/germanys-angela-merkel-says-trump-twitter-ban-problematic/
“Facebook now considers advocating for liberty to be sedition. Where will it end?” Rand Paul, US Senator, commenting on his father (Ron Paul) being banned by Facebook. https://twitter.com/RandPaul/status/1348704640486014982
“When you use Google, do you get more than one answer? Of course, you do. Well, that’s a bug. We should be able to give you the right answer just once.” Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google. https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/eric_schmidt_557851
In times gone by, when kings, dictators, and popes wanted to suppress dissent, they would burn the books. Most people thought those times are behind us. We now live in enlightened times – freedom of speech – freedom of opinion and expression – freedom of access to the internet – the right to privacy etc. But the old times, have returned – with a vengeance. We are not burning books anymore, but we are ‘burning’ internet accounts – stripping people of their internet rights – and it is being done, for the same reason, as in the past – to suppress dissent.
We are rapidly moving towards, Eric Schmidt’s, dystopian vision of the future; “the right answer just once.” He wants to be God (or Big Brother). Only God knows the correct answer to every question. But Schmidt thinks, that Google can/will deliver, the same accuracy as God – the right answer to every question. Schmidt thinks, the current situation, where there are different opinions, about everything is a ‘bug’ in the system. Won’t it be wonderful to live in a world where there are no more ‘bugs’ in the system? What do most people do with bugs? Yes, that’s right they squash them. Be on the lookout, for an Eric Schmidt jackboot, coming through your door – you ‘bug’ in the system. If they can do it to the President of the United States, they will surely do it to you too.
Jack Dorsey, put on Eric Schmidt’s jackboots and squashed the biggest ‘bug’ of all – the President of the United States – Donald Trump. Angela Merkel, called this development ‘problematic.’ It was always assumed that the British were the masters of the literary and verbal device, known as understatement. It would appear the Germans are learning to use it too. Because ‘problematic’ does not cut it – a more appropriate word would be ‘catastrophic.’
Jack Dorsey, may go down in history as the man who destroyed the world wide web – at least, that part of the web, that is ‘worldwide.’ Up until now, the people of the world, have been enjoying the myth, that the world wide web, is free and objective. Now thanks to Jack Dorsey and all the other members of the Big Tech cabal, everybody now knows, that the internet is certainly not free and objective. This is why Merkel finds it ‘problematic.’ She has no sympathy for Donald Trump. What she is shocked about (and all other world leaders too), is how a private company can blatantly censor the sitting president, of supposedly, the most powerful country in the world – as if he was some sort of ‘bug,’ that needed to be squashed. It raises troubling questions, such as; “Who has the power here?” Is Big Tech, more powerful than the President of the United States? Apparently, it is! What about Merkel and the rest of the world leaders? They are going to say to themselves; “If it can happen to the President of the United States it can happen to me – do I really want these companies with this much power operating in my country – maybe we should look into developing our own internet system?” – and down goes the ‘worldwide’ side of the web. The world-wide side of www, will cease to exist.
The huge risk that Big Tech is taking with this, ‘Soviet Union style purge’ – this Nazi style, ‘book burning’ – is symptomatic of something much bigger. Big Tech has a mental problem – a psychosis – it’s a kind of virus that infects the whole cabal. They are unhinged, divorced from reality – how else can it be explained, that they are willing to risk the destruction of their own industry, in order to destroy one man? The disease they are suffering from, is called, ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’ For more than four years they have been trying to squash this ‘bug’ called Donald Trump. Now that he is about to leave office, one would think they would be congratulating one another, and be happy that they have achieved their goal. But no, their attacks have intensified – and others suffering from the same disease, have joined in. The mayor of New York has just cancelled all contracts with Donald Trump’s businesses. The PGA just cancelled using Trump’s Bedminster golf course for their competitions – many more will join in, righteously and joylessly, ‘burning Donald Trump at the stake.’
The intent is clear – Trump needs to be totally destroyed. The reason he needs to be destroyed, is not just because of their intense hatred, it is so that, something like Trumpism can never happen again. The destruction of Trump, will be an object lesson, for us all – “don’t you deplorables, dare to challenge our authority over you, ever again!”
The hypocrisy and arrogance of Big Tech has no bounds. They obviously think they are untouchable. All this recent, over the top censorship, is occurring straight, after all the Big Tech CEOs testified to the US Congress, under oath, that they did not censor anyone. They are literally risking jail time to destroy Donald Trump – but none of them will go to jail – they won’t even be charged with perjury – they are untouchable.
One would think, that Big Tech, would have enough self-awareness to realise, that they have now lost the ‘moral high ground’ – that they cannot complain when others do the same as them. But no, their hypocrisy and arrogance know no bounds. Twitter recently had the temerity to lecture the Republic of Uganda about an honest, transparent and fair election. Including how bad the effect of censorship is on the well-being of a functioning democracy.. Apparently, Twitter has a committee, that polices the good governance of the nations of the world. The committee is called – ‘The Global Public Policy Team’ – ‘The Team’, recently issued this statement, about the run up to the election in Uganda:
Ahead of the Ugandan election, we’re hearing reports that internet service providers are being ordered to block social media and messaging apps. We strongly condemn internet shutdowns – they are hugely harmful, violate basic human rights and the principles of #OpenInternet. Access to information and freedom of expression, including the public conversation on Twitter, is never more important during democratic processes, particularly elections. https://www.foxnews.com/media/twitter-open-internet-uganda-election
Maybe all those who want ‘election integrity’ should move to Uganda, because we will be comforted to know, that Twitter is going to defend our democratic rights there.
Note: In addition to destroying their own ‘moral high ground’ position, Big Tech has destroyed the ‘moral high ground’ of America as well. From now on, whenever the American Government wants to lecture other nations about free speech, censorship and human rights, those ‘naughty nations’ will laugh and throw it back in America’s face. What Big Tech has done, has resulted in a lose, lose, lose outcome for everyone.
